We stayed here two nights before heading to the Big Island. We were just looking for a basic hotel, as we don't usually spend much time in the room. While The Waikiki Sand Villa is not fancy, it more than met our expectations. The rooms were clean, had free wifi (though not very fast), and had a lanai. We never waited for an elevator. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. They had free continental breakfast.(basically toast, coffee and juice). Perry's Smorgie Buffet is right up the street if your looking for a cheap breakfast. Parking is $15 a day for unlimited valet, but that's pretty normal in Waikiki. It's about a 15 minute walk to the beach. Lots of shopping and restaurants near by. All in all, very good for one of the lowest priced hotels in Waikiki.

GOOD ROOM FOR THE MONEY

True to the Hawaiian way, every staff member I encountered smiled and was helpful without being intrusive. I liked the valet parking and was surprised how quickly they noticed me enter the lobby and were ready to bring my car, if needed. The room was comfortable and clean and had a nice lanai.

The "Aloha Surf Builder" rooms are condos across the street from the main hotel. They are luxury rooms with kitchenettes and flat screen tvs w DVD players. King size beds. My only problem was that 11am checkout was non-negotiable. No 1pm or later checkout. There is a nice "Hospitality Room" in main hotel however for early arrival and people like me who just can't get enough of a good deal.

Hospitality room is great if you need computer access, the pool and hot tub are in good shape, cost of restaurant foods is reasonable. The downside was the mattresses were not too comfortable. May be a good idea to check out alternate room for bed condition.

Our room was right near everything very clean convienent and affordable. Only problem was 6am garbage trucks!

Don't be fooled by the list of amenities and the proximity to the beach. Or the photos of the lobby. The lobby is noticeably nicer than the rooms. At least, the standard rooms. Our room was very small, had stained curtains, an incredibly hard mattress, tilted counters, a lizard in the room, and a bathtub that filled with water when we showered. Oh, and the breakfast is paltry. Don't stay at this hotel. We ignored the warning reviews of others past guests who rated this hotel and we paid the price.

I traveled to Oahu over the weekend and didn't want to bother any friends or family since this was a last minute thing. So I booked this hotel mostly because I knew it was the least expensive that I could find. Being that I mostly needed a room to sleep this was just what I needed to comfort myself. Not lavish myself but I was comfortable in the room I was assigned. Nice bar & grill downstairs that was open till very late hours, a nice and friendly bartender, Wade, was very attentive to all his customers. The hotel had all the basic amenities, including 1st day in room complimentary coffee, complimentary continental breakfast each day comes with the price of the room. I would stay here again.

Stayed here overnight while doing a function downtown. Only problem was they put us in smoking even though we asked for non. Lucikly they were able to move us to a 3 bed room and we just put two beds together to make it work. Good location to all the action. Clean rooms. Staff was friendly. Bar was nice too.

This hotel was very convenient because it is just minutes from the beach and the Wikiki strip. The room was small but I liked that the room had a frige. Overall, the room was good

This hotel is located literally within walking distance of waikiki beach, marketplace, clubs, bars. The only time we drove the car was when we drove up to the north shore. overall the hotel was excellent for the price..nice view, pool, even has a gym!! but the downside. the bed is uncomfortable and HARD.

I intend to return to this hotel! 'Far better than expected. Restaurant and Bar open til 3am. Great pool and hot tub. Free access to Internet, no need to bring a computer. Breakfast was light but ok. Prices were reasonable in Restaurant. Grab a "Surf Builder" room if U can find a special deal again. Quieter back by the Ala Wai Canal. Still 2 to 3 blocks from beach and one from main bus route. I just plain liked this place. Rooms large enough with lanai.

The price was perfect for this hole in the wall hotel. The shopping was excellent around the hotel, but when we returned the bathtub was filled with black dirt. The rooms on both sides of my room, were under construction and had loud banging noises. The dirt in my bathtub came from the construction. They were fixing the plumbing, go figure on my vacation.

Overall the experience was good. The location is great with an easy walk to Waikiki Beach. The rooms and hotel itself were clean, plus the staff was nice and very accomidating. The only disappointment was the continental breakfast, but since it was free (or included in the room) I guess you can't expect too much.

the hotel and the staff was most gracious and wanted to help our stay in anyway for it to be a pleasant experience. and it was, the only area i was disappointed was in the continental breakast. i feel there should of beeen more of a variety of food.

The only negative I encountered was an uncomfortable mattress, but when I jumped into the twin bed in the room this was rectified. Great location...although a couple blocks from the beach, it was well worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend a stay here.

The bar and extra towels were the best part of staying at the hotel. Service was friendly all around, though the poor condition of all amenities cast a dark shadow over my entire stay. PROS: + Only a couple blocks away from the Kuhio beach park, which is one of the better ones in Waikiki. + ABC mart on the corner + King's Corner 2 blocks away + Bar staff was very nice (especially late evening and noon-6). CONS: - Coffee Pots: Broken (only the first day your coffee is free, and the replacement coffee pot doesn't even fit the machine) - Hot Water: If you are ever up before 6:30 AM you will get no hot water and not a lot of water pressure. - Terrible Continental Breakfast: I've seen a better continental in a Motel 6. You get coffee, juice, tea, burnt toast, stale mini donettes, stale mini croissants, and gogurt. - Really Uncomfortable Beds: I've never slept on a bed that felt worse than bare concrete. Springs were grinding into me the entire night. The pillows were also really thin (ask for a second from the front desk). - Construction & Maintenance: There were no postings prior to my booking a few weeks from my travel date that they would have the water & AC off throughout the hotel for an entire day. There was also remodeling of the bar manager's room that kept the pool area noisy from 8 AM to 4 PM (drills, hammers, jackhammers, saws, etc). They also neglected to inform me of these things upon check-in so I found out the hard way. - Lacking Drink Books: There were some drinks that bartenders not working during prime hours didn't know how to make or to make well.

I had to stay overnight because of a late night meeting. Zip in and zip out. Perfect for the money.

We were very impressed with this hotel until we tried to sleep that night. The beds were very uncomfortable and the wind was rattling the sliding door. (We were on the 10th floor.) Not a bad price for Waikiki, but do yourself a favor and spring for a nicer place on the beach. We stayed the remaining nights at the Outrigger Waikiki, which was fantastic!

The Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel has a number of reasons to stay there as well as a couple of things they could improve upon. I really like the location which was within easy walking distance of Waikiki beach, right across from the canal, (which is very pleasant to walk next to) and near to a number of restaurant and shopping choices without all the noise and traffic of being in the middle of them. Busses and taxi’s were easy to find so not having a car was not a big deal at this hotel. The continental breakfast closes a bit early, 9:00a.m. and the selection is not that great but for the cost it was nice to be able to get some toast and juice with the cost of the room. The hospitality floor seems like a really good set of conveniences although I didn’t use the spa or the laundry I was grateful for the free internet access and computer usage because I didn’t have my own laptop with me to use the free WIFI in the lobby. The pool area was very nice and felt secluded even though it was right off of a side street. I stayed on the first floor of guest rooms (The third floor although the number is 2) and close to the elevator (I’d recommend trying to get a room on a higher floor for a better view and less street noise). I think this floor allows smoking and that was evident when you stepped off the elevator and into the room. The closeness to the street and the elevator also led to a significant amount of extraneous noises which could be heard in the room. The other issues I had with the room were that the television had a fairly fuzzy picture (the TV on the hospitality floor had a very clear picture), the air conditioning was fairly loud, and there were some cracks in the walls which didn’t look nice. I didn’t use the safe but it was nice to have and the refrigerator in the room was a good size for a mini fridge and a real convenience. I never went to the bar in the hotel nor did I get anything from the food vendor but it was nice to have them there in case. I did store my ba

This hotel is by far Bank for your Buck. Real nice ,great location,great great Happy hour at the bar. Best in Waikiki.I highly recommend this place.

Everything was great, staff, cleanliness and location. My daughter just loves the pool. Only problem was the beds were hard and not comfortable.

Great location! Three blocks from Waikiki beach! Quiet neighborhood. We had a great time with a very friendly and helpful staff!

When we arrived we were greeted with a smile. The check in service was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The carpet needed to be replaced, but had been cleaned. Other than this the hotel was close to everything, great service all employees were incredibly helpful and friendly. I had one security issue and they handled it extremly fast and I felt safe with them (the person had the wrong room but came back so I called the front desk). If I go back I will definently stay with them. I can only say I had a wonderful experience with this stay. We walked or took the bus from a close walk. Smorgey restaurant was within walking distance for a great meal. The restaurant in the hotel was really good food also. Overall a wonderful stay!!!!!

This is my second stay here. In January, 2009 (my first) I was apparently "upgraded" to a nicer room than I'd paid for; this time, I got shuttled off to a three-bed room with a dismal view, and staff would not change me, even for the benefit to them of being able to use the extra two beds!! The pool always has leaves in it from the palm trees they landscape the property with, and is too shallow (a 5' man can stand everyplace). Still, the Sand Bar & Restaurant serves good food at reasonable (sit-down) prices, the staff are friendly, and the hotel's in a good location if you don't want to be RIGHT on the beach.

Overall this hotel is not what you should choose if you are looking for a romantic getaway or relaxing lessure spot. The hotel was cheap, and was what I need for my stay. The location is very nice and close to most of what you want to see in Waikiki or very accesable to anything else you can't easily walk to. If you just need a place to store your belonging, sleep, and shower then I recomend this hotel to all. If you are looking for anything more than at, literally at it, then you should probably choose a different place to stay.

The price of the parking should have been included with the hotel price. The bed and pillows were not comfortable.

It's within walking distance (couple blocks) to Waikiki Beach and shopping. The staff is very friendly & the rooms are clean. The continental breakfast is only mini plain donughts, mini croissants, cold dry toast, & pineapple. And they are constantly running out of food. The wireless internet is not available in the rooms, only in the lobby, bar, & poolside. Our flight didn't leave until late the last night, so the hotel did store our luggage for us. The beds were kinda small - a twin & a small double. The view from our balcony was awesome, especially at night.

The hotel staff were very responsive and allowed an early check in, which I greatly appreciated.

Convenient located with OK hotel standard. Breakfast and internet included. If doing laundry, do not use the HOT tab on the rightmost machine. It will continue forever...

The room has everything we needed. It's somewhat small but clean. We love the location of the hotel as it is within a few blocks to the Waikiki beach. There are lots of convenient stores for you to purchase the things you need and lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel serves continental breakfasts which is great for my 4 year old. He loves the little yogurt and the fruit cup. Overall, I'm very pleased with the stay and will definitely come again.

Good thing my husband and I only had to stay there for one night! Terrible service! I had to ask for a hair dryer and an iron three times (20 minutes apart), then I got really upset went to the front desk and tell them to disregard because I was really tired and had to get up early in the morning. 15 minutes later the guy woke us up to finally bring the iron which we ended up not using. But still no hair dryer... Don't forget - they will charge you for parking ($15 a night) I will avoid this place in the future.

I travel quite a bit and in all my years of traveling. the waikiki sand villa hotel has one of the best services to offer for very low and cost effective prices. i would recommend this hotel service to anyone. mahalo for your hospitality, friendly faces and most of all your kokua! leihualani medeiros

This hotel was exceptional the beds were comfortable the room had a patio with chairs and a side table also a mini fridge perfect for enjoying the sun coming up in the morning!! For a free breakfast it and the price of the hotel I saved a lot of money staying there. The on-site restaurant had great service the food was good for the price and the happy hour was probably the best in town!! My friend and I plan on going back!!

Price is good. close to everything. I recommend this hotel to everybody.
